About Le Moné

Learn about Le Moné and answers to some of our frequently asked questions.

To create Le Moné was a balancing act that took over a full year to complete. Our journey started at the vineyard: we teamed up with a family-owned vineyard who we’ve been cultivating a relationship with for years. Our team includes a renowned brewmaster and distiller in a family of citrus farmers, a sommelier who’s worked in some of New York’s finest restaurants, and other beverage professionals who’ve partnered with a winemaker with over 30 years experience to create our all-natural citrus aperitif. We’re passionate about what we drink and obsessive about the integrity of the beverages we consume.

Le Moné is crafted in the Finger Lakes region of New York at a family-owned winery overlooking Keuka Lake. Their picturesque fields in the Finger Lakes capture the essence of New York agriculture, and even features an organic farm on the property to supply local restaurants. We worked closely with them to select the perfect foundation for Le Moné — a bright acidic wine with a lemon-lime profile, and dry finish that is balanced out by a touch of agave. It’s the perfect canvas for our citrus botanical to shine.

A farm winery is a special designation from New York State for wines made predominantly with New York ingredients, supporting local agriculture. While some ingredients are sourced from elsewhere, Le Moné proudly supports local growers from New York.

Le Moné is designated as an Apéritif Wine—a fortified aromatic wine infused with botanicals. This low-alcohol drink offers a contemporary take on the classic apéritif, making it suitable for any occasion.

Bright, aromatic notes of Meyer lemon meet a hint of floral honeysuckle, bergamot, and candied lemon to create sunshine in a bottle — a vibrant, refreshing zestiness makes it easy to sip and hard not to love.

Meyer lemons are hybrids of mandarin oranges and lemons, featuring a rounder shape and deeper yellow-orange peel. They are sweeter and less acidic than typical lemons, known for their fragrant aroma.

Le Moné uses agave as a sweetener, which is sweeter than sugar, so we can use less and keep the sugar low. However, Le Moné is made from fortified wine, not agave or tequila.

For newcomers, it’s recommended to try Le Moné first try over ice to experience the flavor profile on its own. It also shines in a spritz: equal parts Le Moné and prosecco over ice, garnished with a lemon twist and green grape or mixed into a bar-quality cocktail with your favorite spirit, the possibilities are endless.

Our favorite drinks are ones that are simple and delicious on their own and highly customizable if you want to get creative. Apéritifs are perfect for this, yet so many of them are bitter and cloying instead of sessionable and refreshing. Le Moné’s approachable citrus and perfect balance makes it the aperitif you can drink any time. For more recipes, check out our cocktail library.
